As it turns out, the default kernel in tao4 DOES appear to support
this chipset. I'm left to assume that it is Alan Cox's driver.

Didn't do any serious testing other than to see that 1) it finds the
drive, 2) names it /dev/hde, 3) allows me to mount it and 4) do a 
"du /mnt/hde1" with no apparent problems. Cool!
