You mean you did not compile a new ftape kernel module package and
installed it? Just the upgrade broke ftape? Then I guess the problem is
not with the ftape-source package.

It can be a problem with the ftape-util package, if you have it
installed and upgraded it. In debian, the parameters for loading ftape
modules should be at file

/etc/modutils/ftape-util

Can you check that the values there are correct and that you are not
including them with different values in other file. Module claims to be
4.05, so it seems one of the recent snapshots I guess.

Other possible problem is if you have manually edited /etc/modules.conf.
In Debian that file is autogenerated from files in /etc/modutils dir.
So, if you manually edited that file, in the upgrade it would have been
regenerated and your changes lost after a call to update-modules by one
of the maintainer scripts.

Hope this helps

Agustin
