I do not know how slackware does things, but that options will get read
automagically if properly placed. You should not need even to load
explicitely the module since 'alias char-major-27 zftape' will
result in it being loaded when a device with char-major-27 is requested.
That stuff uses to be in a file named /etc/modules.conf or
/etc/conf.modules or something similar. In Debian all that stuff is in
individual files under dir /etc/modutils that are merged into
/etc/modules.conf at request, but do not know how slackware will do it.
Note also that in my setup the paralel port device is /dev/{n}qft1
(trakker is the second in driver= ftape options line) while the internal
unit is accessed as /dev/{n}qft0 (ftape-internal is the first in driver=
ftape options line)
I am cc'ing to the list. May be other people is also interested in this
and is better to be archived (is the list archived?) just in case
anybody looks for this info.
Good luck
