Hi Mike,

Hopefully this is the last time I will bother you (and the mailing list)
with a 'setup my tape drive' question.

I need to configure ide-scsi scsi emulation under Block devices. I found a
web page with instructions on how to do this, the URL is here if anyone's
interested:

It says to add the line (append="hdd=ide-scsi") -my brackets- to my
/etc/lilo.conf file, my tape drive is indeed on hdd or so it says when
booting Linux. The problem is, I have no /etc/lilo.conf file only a
/etc/lilo.conf.anaconda file. Should I put the same line in
lilo.conf.anaconda instead? (There is no lilo.conf file anywhere on my
filesystem although there is a man page for it.)

The web page then says to run lilo (which I don't know how to do, but guess
a re-boot would be ok instead) and then to add this line (modprobe
ide-scsi) to the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local --this file I do have.

Finally it says that the tape drive will appear as /dev/nst0 after a reboot
and suggests creating a link to /dev/tape which I don't know how to do but,
it claims, may be necessary for some software.

Does this all sound correct to you? I am hesitant to change system settings
when I have no idea whether this will blow my machine up, so to speak.

Many thanks for your help and apologies for hitting you with this -what I
hope will be my- final question on the subject.
