some floppy tape questions

I have slackware 9_0 running on this machine with kernel version 2.4.20
running.  I have a trakker tape drive that connects through the parallel
port on this machine too.  I think it might be a trakker 450.  The tape
cartridges only hold about 200MB on them.  I have ftape and zftape I can
use on this machine.  When I used ftape earlier I got several lines of
output about a qic 117 type tape drive loading but loading zftape only
speaks the one line for the driver being loaded.  The ftape output looks
like this, I got it by doing dmesg >dmesg.log then grep -i "ftape"
dmesg.log >ftape.log.
