Hi, I am using a HP Colorado 5 GB IDE backup station. I have tried both Dump and Tar but do not succeed to backup more than 626 MB on a tape that should make 4 GB uncompressed. I have tried a few combinations of parameters but I still fail. The tape is a TR-4 with this specs found on the tape: 900 Oe, 50.800 ftpi, 740 ft/225 m Anyone who got a clue? I have one problem more... At the moment I can only access tha backup station via /dev/scsi0, not /dev/st0 and /dev/nst0 as I was supposed. /dev/scsi0 is rewinding and I want to be able to use is as non-rewinding too. I have set it up by telling grub that /dev/hdd should be scsi emulated and by putting "/sbin/modprobe ide-scsi" in my rc.local Any ideas? Please do not hesitate if so. I am using Redhat 9 and kernel 2.4.20-8.
