I have asked a couple of the limited contributors to this list to provide
some of their module loading procedures in order to find out where I am
going wrong. I have been trying for over a year now to get this tape drive
to work. I have used the stable release, which I cannot compile. I have
used the most recent version, which I cannot compile. For a chance I tried
an older unstable version 2002-03-21 and got it to compile.

I am using RH7.1 with the 2.4.2-2 kernel. I have tried on both my Toshiba
Tecra 720CDT laptop and my PII/233 to get this to work and the drive does
work on the Window98 partition of the laptop.

The error messages I got were exactly the same as Alessio Martini's post
(except the date and time ;] ):

Jun 21 00:06:26 due kernel: bpck-fdc.c: bpck_fdc_register @ 0xd291cce0
Jun 21 00:06:26 due kernel: [005] bpck-fdc.c (bpck_fdc_query_proto) -
Got 0xf8, expected either 0xc0 or 0x40.
Jun 21 00:06:26 due kernel: [006] 0 bpck-fdc.c (bpck_fdc_detect) - can't
find bpck interface for ftape id 0.
Jun 21 00:06:26 due kernel: [007] 0 bpck-fdc.c (bpck_fdc_detect) -
ft_parport_probe(fdc, &bpck->parinfo) failed: -6.

I have heard so many times that the Ditto parallel drives are supposed with
ftape and I keep plugging along looking for websites with helpful hints from
people that has gotten it to work. But I find that most people haven't got
it to work and all have similar problems.

Who can help us?

By the way, thanks to all those people that have worked on developing what
we have so far. I wouldn't have any chance if it wasn't for them!
