James,

While I love the openchrome project and the fact that Via has started
working closer with them to produce good opensource via drivers, I would
highly recommend you download via drivers from:

 http://linux.via.com.tw/support/downloadFiles.action

and replace the ones in the chroot with the binary ones from Via's site.
They will almost certainly work with your motherboards correctly, and
their newer drivers support things like Xrandr1.2, dualhead, and DVI
quite well.
