i started experiencing on debian squeeze (testing) the same or similar problem
encountered on fedora with pulseaudio failing on thin-clients with less than
64MB of memory.
in fedora:
Pulseaudio disregards the --disable-shm command line option
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=486525
does anyone know how/if it was solved in fedora? the bug report is marked:
"Status: CLOSED NOTABUG"
but there doesn't really seem to be documentation of how it was resolved in the
bug comments...
the relevent bug in debian: http://bugs.debian.org/537526
thanks!
live well,
vagrant
