my proposal would be to modify the existing LDM_SESSION infrastructure:
use LDM_SESSION variable, if present
add to LDM_SESSION if session(s) are passed via ldminfod
add to LDM_SESSION a default value (set at package build time)
then have an rc.d script (or code within ldm after the ssh tunnel is up)
that validates the LDM_SESSION values in order, using the first one that
is valid.
this allows a reasonable default, a way to override it on a per-server
basis, and a way to override globally.
in any of those steps, you can define multiple possible sessions.
it will require some modifications to the code to allow LDM_SESSION to
be changed during the rc.d scripts (or just embed it in ldm itself)...
but i don't think that will be overly difficult.
i'll try to work on this on the train today :)
