I know all of that, thanks :)  Worked with configuration, UI,
documentation (DocBook), data to read, write, modify, extract 'em.

Still, I find the reasoning very weak -- mostly reading like that
"two million lemmings can't be all wrong".  It's OK for a student
but developing reasoning *for one's self* decisions is better yet.

XML (or YAML) is good when one needs to stuff some hairyarchical
data in one file, and really plain text is good when one file
does one thing -- and does it good.  I'd thus call plaintext
the UNIX way (sharp tools) and XML the fd.o way (dump it all 
in there and let it sort itself out) ;)
