Wrong screen detection on Insignia branded TV.

I was given a 40" Insignia 1080p screen and decided to use it in the
bedroom. I am ltsp pxe booting 2 media centers in my home, one in each
bedroom.

Current software is Ubuntu 18.04 server with LTSP installed via the ppa.
Chroot method, followed guide on the wiki for Ubuntu.

I am getting lines across the screen on this one tv location. It appears to
be a resolution thing, or scan lines or something. Everything is distorted
on the screen. The post and loading spam looks right. This problem appears
only when the display manager loads. The worst part, it isn't consistent.
It only seems to happen about half the time. Another symptom is that the
loading spam on the screen is large, not the right resolution for the
screen. On Ubuntu 16.04 with LTSP from the main Ubuntu  repositories I do
not have this problem. The loading spam shrinks down as one would expect on
this resolution with 16.04.

Clearly this is an issue that needs to be solved. I'm at my wits end though
as I have been pouring over logs for awhile now and getting nowhere. I've
tried passing mods to the lts.conf but it's mostly guesswork as I simply
have no idea what I'm trying to do and picking through google and just
trying random stuff.

This issue is holding me back from a full 18.04 upgrade. I would hate to
run a 16.04 VM with LTSP just for this one machine. Not sustainable as it
will eventually go out of support anyway.

I would appreciate some guidance on what to look for, else how to sort this
out. Thank you all.
