diff list 1 vs. 2, request for opinions what to put in

As far as I can tell, the meaningful differences that happenstance
brought, between 1 and 2, as listed below.  Please tell me what you
think should go back in- there is lots of space I have freed up, and
more coming, but, I need feedback on what people are actually using.
