I think he means installing it onto a hard drive when booted from a ramdisk. Yes, this will work, but requires you set up lilo.conf and point to the correct boot.b file. > > I tried to install it from nfs filesystem as well; with the -r option > > and with chroot and the complete version of lilo, with similar results. > You cannot lilo off a remote file system because lilo does not have the > facilities to read a remote file system. Again, I'm assuming he is booted from tomsrtbt, has a hard drive he wants to fix the lilo installation on, and _also_ has an nfs filesystem mounted, from which he is also trying to run lilo. The *BIG* problem is that he is not posting what *actually happened*. He says "it says it can't be done from a ram disk", which looks to me suspiciously like a paraphrase of a half remembered error message that was not written down. And he says "with similar results", um, similar to what already is not a verbatim transcript of messages received? Advice: 1) Post exactly what you did. Everything you typed. Literally. 2) Post exactly what you saw. Quote every message EXACTLY. No-one is doing anything more than guessing unless we have good input... -Tom
