Testing a network with tomsrtbt

I want to test a network of 2 pc's via a crossover cable that isn't
responding properly under windows. I thought I would try to run
tomsrtbt on both pc's to try and figure it out, but the floppy I wrote
doesn't run (gives a screen of 04 04 04 04).


What seems to be the problem and how can i make some quick pings from
one computer to the other to test the network?
