The switch on the back is actually a software reset switch.  There is a process
on the modem that monitors it's status and resets the system if it is pressed. 
I expect this was done so that you couldn't accidentally reset the modem in the
middle of an important task, like writing to flash.  In my notes at home, I
have written down the GPIO pin that the reset switch is attached to.  I'll post
it when I get a chance.
