How about shifting the USB/serial header half an inch further inboard and 
squeezing in the crystal here?  Alternatively, you could make the board a 
"U" shape (which you probably need to do anyway, to accommodate the 
standard serial and USB connectors) and plop the crystal on the other side 
of those two big caps?

And another suggestion: there are 3 open LED pads on the 
motherboard.  There's always a need for more blinkenlights. :-)
