Status of "Home Grown" ActionTec Development Daughterboard

Dear ActionTec Hackers:
My parts all arrived today (i.e., the PCB from from ExpressPCB and all the
components from Digikey) so I assembled everything this evening after
"real work" was done.
Here's a photo of the PCB populated, installed and working as /dev/console...

I haven't tried out the USB stuff yet. I'll do that tomorrow.
It looks like I can fit everything in the existing box: RS-232 DB9, USB
Type A connector, boot mode slide switch, and reset push-botton switch.
However, I'd like to figure out here to find a "miniture" USB Type A
connector...what I have now is a "monster".
I did find three "clearance problems". One was in the layout causing
"RST" to be shored to 3.3V. Why didn't one of you catch that! :-) That
just required a quick cut with an Exacto knife.
The other is with the crystal can, which really needs to be mounted on the
bottom of the PCB (or a couple of millimeters needs to be taken out of the
top of the case). The crystal can easily be moved to the bottom of the
PCB, but it will need to be insulated (e.g., shrink tubing).
The last was interference with the plastic standoff which holds the box
together. I had to make a semi-circular cut-out on the edge of the PCB,
and also shave off a bit off of one of the standoff's ribs.
I added a 5.1K pull-up on RST# to 3.3V before I found that "RST" was
shorted to 3.3V. I'm not positive that resistor was required. I have no
"reset controller" installed, and the console always seems to come up when
the Actiontec board is power-cycled. I will look into this tomorrow with
a 'scope.
It's way past my bedtime. Stand by for more status, and an updated PCB
layout and parts list.
