There are some important issues regarding DNS. One obvious way is for the Actiontec box to be the DNS server, and have it simply pass-thru any request packets to a "real" DNS server on the WAN side...either the cable-modem one or the dial-up one. My telecommuter buddy has created such a beast for dealing his corporate VPN's nasty behavior, trying to take control of his home LAN. No doubt this there is other stuff out there under "QOS stuff".
