Hrm, it works a bit better if I sent if from my subscribed email address... So it's been a while. I figured I would let the group know that I haven't dropped working with my Actiontec. Unfortunately, getting married and then back to school have occupied much of my time lately. Once I finish cleaning up my lab upstairs and get it back in order, I can start playing with the modem again. Along the same lines, I picked up a NetGear WG602 access point the other day. I got it for a couple of reasons. The v1 hardware (which I got) has the wireless on a mini-PCI card. That was the main reason. I pulled that an put it in my laptop. Secondly though, it has a nice embedded system: MIPS 3000 based processor, 16MB of RAM, 4MB flash, MMU, and a mini-PCI expansion slot. It also has room for another mini-PCI slot on the bottom of the board and what looks like another flash chip, assuming you're good with a fine tip soldering iron. If you go looking for one, make sure you get the v1 hardware, as the v2 has the wireless built on the board. You can tell the v1 from the box because it was release before the 802.11g spec was completed. There is a note on the side that says the product was designed according to the draft. Also, the v2 generally says WG602v2 on the box. In looking around to see what I could find in the way of mini-PCI expansion devices I can across a couple of neat things. First, for those that were looking for a relatively cheap embedded development board to work with, check this out: http://store.mini-box.com/ituner/wrap2b.html The going online price seems to be about $120. Also, I can across this too: http://www.axiomtek.com.tw/product_detail.php?model_num=AX8931A&majorcat=Industrial+PCs&subcat=Rackmount+Peripherals+%26+Accessories Just a couple of interesting things to play with. Anyway, when I get back to the Actiontec, I'll send everyone an update.
