I've not seen this problem; the SDK should build just fine on a standard system. Make sure your path is properly setup and that you are able to build other projects on the same machine. Also, you might make sure you are logged in as root and have privileges to create new files in the tree where you've installed the source code. If all that doesn't work, there's always re-installing ;>.
