This looks like a fairly clear bug in prefs reading. You should have filed it
in the bug database. Developers don't necessarily read all relevant mailing
lists, and even if they do they don't necessarily have time to file every
bug encountered in the mailing lists themselves.

If you don't file it and it's not already filed, don't expect it to get fixed.
