I have almost exclusively 3 button mice. As others have said, typically
the wheel acts as the middle button. I have one of those
laser-or-whatever-that-red-light-is Microsoft wheel mice and its wheel
is the middle button.

Give it a try. :)

If you have a 2 button mouse, you can simulate the middle button (if you
enabled this feature) by clicking both at once.
