Quick Annoyance

This is more of a "Unix" thing, but after working over the weekend on installing and deinstalling software I want to get it off my chest... Most packaging software accepts the "install" option to install software. For example building from source with a Makefile you do: make install With rpm, you do rpm --install But if you want to remove software it becomes a pain. Not all Makefiles have an option for removing software. If they do you have to guess at what its called. Is it uninstall, deinstall, remove, delete, erase? rpm drives me nuts (well everything about rpm really) but to me --erase is non-obvious. If you install and want to do the opposite would not the opposite of install be uninstall?
