Occasionally, I must admit, I've had the monitor and keyboard on either
KDE or GNOME freeze on me. This has happened on a laptop running older
versions of Red Hat and on my workstation running Gentoo. At this point
a three-finger salute doesn't work; all I can do is power down (thank
goodness for journaling filesystems).

I'm sure this is a problem with X or the desktop, not with Linux--but it
has happened.

With Red Hat 9, I haven't had any problems like this yet.

It may not be worth documenting.
