You're not seriously suggesting my post detailing the problem was name-calling,
I hope?

If you want a useful suggestion, I'd suggest this:
1) Make ^C, ^V, and the menu use the same buffer that left-click/middle-click
do.  Get rid of the extra buffer.
2) The ability to paste text that is currently highlighted just is not
consistent with the ability to highlight text but paste something else onto
it.  Linux tries to do the former, while a lot of people, especially Windows
users, find the latter much more useful.  There needs to be some way for the
user to choose the two behaviors, either by having two methods of pasting, or
by having some kind of user-settable option controlling the behavior of paste.
Too many options are a bad idea, but this one seems necessary.
3) At the very least, buggy applications should be fixed.  Mozilla doesn't
implement even the weird Linux cut and paste method properly.  The response
to someone pointing out those bugs should not be "use another application"
when the application is as prominent as Mozilla.  And once the bug is
reported, fixing it should not take 3 years.  Bugs that have been around a
while should be given higher priority for fixing.
