Robin, you might want to check out an Open
Source project I'm working on:

The main feature is a packaging format that, if
everything is pre-configured correctly, can
install anything packaged in that format
with just one simple command.

Someday, there might be a GUI to deal with
cases in which things *don't* have a complete-and-valid
configuration ready. But things are *already* to the
point that it's easy if the configuration is *already*
complete-and-valid.

You might find it to be useful.
