This is a bogus argumentation.

Now linux is 9 times as insecure as Win+ZA or what?


BTW before I switched from Windows to Slackware Linux 3 years ago my machine
was online 4 hours a day at least, I didn't run *any* Firewall at all but only
a intrusion detection system by the name of BlackICE Defender which blocked
lots of stuff like portscans and so and never really had any trouble at all.
I didn't get hacked, my machine wasn't taken over or used for DDoS or so
(something that would have noticably affected my 56k line :) ) - but merely
because I always moved carefully, blocked JavaScript, *never* used IE or
Outlook, didn't bother to open attachments from people I don't know or trust
and did an occasional virus scan with up2date sigs.

The last virus infection on any of my machines (I still run windows on another
box and dual boot on said Slackware) must be more than 5 years ago.

I don't say Windows was all secure and one has to take into account that I
never had static IP, but then again my machines aren't interesting enough to
hack - but the situation is not as worse with windows as everybody wants to
make believe as soon as you start handling computers *cautious* and
*thoughtfully*.
