Try this: switch to tty1 where you started X and all the error messages and warnings go. be pissed of caue you cant scroll up since the buffer is emptied as soon as you switch from any othher tty or X. try marking something and switch over to X to paste it into your fav email app or gedit or such. be pissed off *again*. try copying stuff from mcedit in an xterm. wonder why it won't work at all (given you didn't startle at wondering why mc constantly messes up certain characters when running in xterm/gterm anyway). don't tell me C&P in linux/unix was *any good.
