/usr/lib/sendmail is a symlink to /usr/sbin/sendmail. Both are part of 
the postfix package:
http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/amd64/postfix/filelist

AFAIK this sendmail emulates the original sendmail command line if 
postfix is installed.

Possible package conflict which results in the removal of 
/usr/lib/sendmail ?

Note that the run.d/10mail script is Debian specific.
