Note that in the "-c" section of the output it does tell you that the
self-test routine is in progress.

(Between tests, that will instead say

  Self-test execution status:      (   0) The previous self-test routine completed
                                          without error or no self-test has ever 
                                          been run.
)


I just checked a couple of my disks and confirmed that they don't put
any sort of "in progress" message into the "-l selftest" section,
either... so perhaps different drives simply behave differently in this
regard.  (The two drives I checked were very different models, but both
were WD drives, too.)
