Does the mailer possibly resent the contents of a old temp file ?

The smartd_warning.cmd script creates some "%TMP%/smartd_warning-*.txt" 
and runs the mailer.
If smartd is run as service, TMP is typically set to C:\Windows\TEMP.

Check the output of "smartd -q onecheck".
