I'm inspecting atrribute values and/or Device Statistics (GP Log 0x04) for unexpected changes. smartd is tool that may help you with such kind of task (I'm doing it manually using smartctl) You may consider to replace disc even it's not broken yet, but device statistics looks untrustworthy. Beware - no countermeasures will make you sure the disc will not become broken with no warning. So backup your data. It is the best trick to avoid nightmares ...
