Hi,
I have a question regarding MegaRAID and smartctl.
I've a MegaRAID controller and with multiple logical drives (raid1)
created. The devices appear as /dev/{sda,sdb,sdc} to OS and MegaRAID disk
ids as follows.
Logical disk0: (mapped to /dev/sda)
physical disk-ID: 9
Logical disk1: (mapped to /dev/sdb)
physical disk-ID: 10
physical disk-ID: 11
physical disk-ID: 12
physical disk-ID: 13
Interestingly when I query the disk attributes of each physical disks using
/dev/{sda,sdb}, the results are same.
smartctl -d sat+megaraid,13 -a /dev/sda
smartctl -d sat+megaraid,13 -a /dev/sdb
It seems the device doesn't really indicate anything when working with
MegaRAID as seen above - Let me know if the above assumption is correct or
something wrong with the functioning of smartctl.
I am using smartctl v5.43, latest version v6.2 also reports the same.
