Re: Output different for the same smartctl command and version

They mean the same thing. The difference is due to different drives, or
more specifically, the different firmware on said drives. Smartmontools
doesn't do any tests itself or give any info. It just tells the drive's
firmware to do tests and reads back what info the firmware gives it. In
this case, when asked for the smart status, one drive responds OK, and the
other passed.

Do be warned that drives often, but not always, have warnings of impending
failure in their attributes. Don't just rely on the health status. Getting
data off before smart fails the drive is much, much easier than
afterwards. I know, I've had to do both.

BTW, 5.38 is quite old. If possible, you should update. Bugs have been
fixed and new enhancements made.
