This article contains sample output from 3+ years old smartctl 5.41. The
output suggests that garbage data is returned in the SMART data block.

Please update smartmontools if possible.

'-d sat' and '-d sat,16' should not make any difference.

Please provide sample output of:

   smartctl -r ioctl,2 -i -A -d sat,12 /dev/sdX
   smartctl -r ioctl,2 -i -A -d sat,16 /dev/sdX

as attachments(!). Add '-q noserial' option if desired. Never discard
the first output line as it tells us smartmontools version and platform.

Thanks,
Christian
