I tried to upgrade (apt-get install smartmontools=6.3+svn4002-2), but 
there is unfortunately a dependency on newer versions of the libc6 and 
libstdc++6 libraries, so I won't be able to upgrade until Debian Jessie 
is released sometime in 2015 :-(
