HP Raid Contollers

Hello,

I have a LSI and HP raid card.  If I do "--scan" on LSI card, I get a 
output like this.

smartctl --scan
/dev/sda -d scsi # /dev/sda, SCSI device
/dev/sdb -d scsi # /dev/sdb, SCSI device
/dev/bus/0 -d megaraid,8 # /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_08], SCSI device
/dev/bus/0 -d megaraid,9 # /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_09], SCSI device
/dev/bus/0 -d megaraid,10 # /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_10], SCSI device
/dev/bus/0 -d megaraid,11 # /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_11], SCSI device
/dev/bus/0 -d megaraid,12 # /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_12], SCSI device
/dev/bus/0 -d megaraid,13 # /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_13], SCSI device
/dev/bus/0 -d megaraid,14 # /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_14], SCSI device
/dev/bus/0 -d megaraid,15 # /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_15], SCSI device

But if I do the same with HP raid one. it fails

  smartctl --scan
# scan_smart_devices: glob(3) aborted matching pattern /dev/discs/disc*

Passing the type also, doesn't help us.

smartctl --scan -d cciss,0

I have two HP boxes and it is failing on both. so the option of problem 
being on particular server is ruled out.

Any idea why it is behaving like this.
NOTE: I have not anything in smartd.conf and OS: Centos7/Opensuse13.2
