As I wrote before, setting security pass which required to perform security-erase fails with input/output error, when I attach the drive to internal SATA controller.

I have tried to create grml bootable USB stick various way including this wiki, and then get a conclusion that grml bootable USB stick for mac can not be created.

Especially, that wiki does not mention that refit or refind, a boot loader for mac, must be installed into Mac.  
In addition, even though I installed refit or refind, USB stick created by either of the way in that wiki page's procedure, using dd, or using UNetbootin never recognized as bootable media!!

So I can't perform security-erase at all.


Now I'm trying to make contact with HGST support, yes my faulty HDD is made by HGST, but first impression is bad enough.  
They send me an E-mail which requests hdd's serial number.  My hdd is old enough (maid at '09/12), so they might not be support it because the hdd is beyond the warranty period.

My conclusion now is the faulty hdd should be throw away to trash...
