Thanks for your advice. First, do a long self test affect the normal operation of the disk? Second, I have already ordered a new replacement disk. Would it be OK to clone the current disk to the new one or should I reinstall everything (this hard drive also contain the system partitions)? You that if this is not a RAID I should get the pending sectors overwritten. How can I do that? I have also read somewhere that a bad SATA cable can cause this. Perhaps I should try to replace it or at least clean the connectors (I got a cleaning agent that is for this purpose).
