SAS1068E - any hope?

I have MB with:

There are two sata disks connected to this controller, and I cannot
query them with smartctl.

Probable ATA device behind a SAT layer
Try an additional '-d ata' or '-d sat' argument.

I saw threads on list, where some people had similar problems (and
suggested, that these chips are buggy). So is it any hope that this chip
will be supported?
