This lists the first disc twice, because there are two access paths (ATA 
and CSMI). This list does not include unknown USB devices.

The XHCI USB driver does not support CSMI. CSMI is designed for RAID 
controllers. The Intel RST driver supports CSMI for drives behind 
onboard SATA ports.

Try "smartctl -i /dev/sdb", and then /dev/sdc, ...

Smartctl should print "Unknown USB bridge" and the USB ID. Adding "-d 
sat" may work then to access the device.
