If this is a hardware modem (doubtful), you don't need a driver (it will show up as /dev/ttyS<mumble> and would have been auto-detected by kudzu). It is probably a 'winmodem' and you do indeed need some sort of driver. Visit http://linmodems.org/ to get drivers. > > > > --- On Wed, 10/29/08, Robert Heller <[email protected]> wrote: > > > From: Robert Heller <[email protected]> > > Subject: Re: [WBEL-users] connect to internet > > To: [email protected] > > Cc: [email protected] > > Date: Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 4:00 PM > > At Wed, 29 Oct 2008 11:45:32 -0700 (PDT) > > [email protected] wrote: > > > > > > > > Ok lets start with what i have > > > a modem which says eth0 - showing up as ethernet not > > modem > > > an isp with a phone number. > > > > Do you have a make/model of this device (pci card? > > Motherboard?)? > > > > If you have a laptop with something 'built in' (eg > > a mini-pci card), > > what is the make/model of the laptop? > > > > > > > > in windows i install Broadcom BCM 4401 driver > > > it goes in as ethernet and modem > > > > > > i dont know what to do now to get you what u need to > > > help me. > > > > > > if you tell me how to get the info to help you help me > > > ill get it best i can muddle through but ill get it. > > > > > > > > > --- On Wed, 10/29/08, Vic <[email protected]> > > wrote: > > > > > > > From: Vic <[email protected]> > > > > Subject: Re: [WBEL-users] connect to internet > > > > To: [email protected] > > > > Date: Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 10:22 AM > > > > > I think i know the problem im just stupid... > > > > > Yes your right took me 2 days but yes it > > native > > > > support > > > > > says it does see my ethernet card broadcom > > bcm 44x > > > > > and the drivers are there > > > > > > > > Right - so we don't need any more fussing > > with that. > > > > > > > > > but i dont have an ethernet connection > > > > > i have a modem connection > > > > > > > > Which modem do you have? > > > > > > > > > its both my ethernet and modem > > > > > > > > I've seen dual modem/ethernet PCMCIA cards in > > the dim > > > > and distant past - I > > > > very much doubt you have one of those.
