Considering what's being discussed here, I'm not sure that everybody
here seeing it that way.

Back few years ago I couldn't have imagined that anybody actually
seriously proposing an API for complying with rouge criminal regimes.

In the old days of FOSS, everybody would have just said NO, and not
caring about whatever ridiculous things some lobotomized polit officers
demanding.

By the way, if Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, etc, wanna destroy themselves
and drive people away to other distros - feel free to do so.
