This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --===============18235140340643419== Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_000C_01C38DAC.979AC5E0" This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_000C_01C38DAC.979AC5E0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello all, So finally our mailing lists work again. The server Mercury was taken down and migrating the mailing list services and LDAP from it to other server unfortunately ended up a little chaotic. Still let us say a big thank-you to our admins who worked hard on their limited time to get us back up and running. 1. PACKAGE MANAGER NAMING For the people who didn't find out yet we are writing a brand new package manager for Zynot from scratch. We have now named it Xeta. The name does not mean anything in particular. It is the greek letter "zeta" with an X and is pronounced in the same way. Also you may have noticed that you subscribed to [email protected] but that you are now receiving mail from [email protected]. We moved subscriptions over and killed the old mailing list. 2. DEADLINE FOR ARCHITECTURE PROPOSALS Yes, today is deadline for quick and dirty architecture designs. We are looking at a total of 3 submitted designs and they can be viewed here: http://jupiter.zynot.org/~gbuxton/ http://jupiter.zynot.org/~zllow/XetaDesign/ http://jupiter.zynot.org/~henryjen/ We'll take a couple of days to look at them, and in the end we should have 1 solid design that we can use as a baseline. 3. SECURITY ARCHITECT FOR XETA Hythloday has been given the task of coming up with satisfying answers regarding security and will make sure it ties into the architecture properly. The task he has been given is more specifically: A security model for Xeta that addresses: * Authentication Server authentication: Clients must be able to verify that they are communicating with a valid server. Client authentication: Servers must be able to verify that clients are valid. User authentication: There must be a way to verify that user is who he claims to be. * Authorization: What level of user rights are granted after authentication. Is user or client granted only the right to browse, or to carry out installs? Is user or client permitted to make operations that builds new toolchains or are they constrained to using the services that are already offered only? * Auditing: What happened, who caused it to happen and when did it happen. Failed transaction attempts must also be recorded. * Access control: Control of permissions to resources. Does user or client have access to XBuild A, but not to XBuild B? Does user or client have access to using toolchain A, but not toolchain B? * Integrity: Verify that data has not been modified in transit over network. * Confidentiality: Protect data in transit against eavesdropping. * Non-repudiation: Make sure that no client, server or user is able to deny a transaction after it happened. Some thoughts about single sign-on and trust between Xeta units would be welcome. A security boundary could be established, and effectively it could work, not only for Xeta, but the others tools that will complement it in the future. All nodes within a Zynot security boundary will most likely have Xeta or some Xeta component installed. How can we leverage this to extend the management capabilities of our tools? 4. MEETING Monday October 13th at 3 pm UTC in #zynot-xeta on irc.freenode.net. Everyone are welcome to attend. You should read the above 3 designs as the agenda for the meeting is to discuss those. 5. UML EXPERT WANTED We will put the final design into UML. However we need someone with time and patience to lead this task. David Nielsen (Lovechild) are you it? If he replies no then you can assume we're looking for someone to step forward :-) ------=_NextPart_000_000C_01C38DAC.979AC5E0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" = xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" = xmlns=3D"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40"> <head> <meta http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Dus-ascii"> <meta name=3DProgId content=3DWord.Document> <meta name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 11"> <meta name=3DOriginator content=3D"Microsoft Word 11"> <link rel=3DFile-List href=3D"cid:[email protected]"> <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:DoNotRelyOnCSS/> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:SpellingState>Clean</w:SpellingState> <w:GrammarState>Clean</w:GrammarState> <w:DocumentKind>DocumentEmail</w:DocumentKind> <w:EnvelopeVis/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:UseWord2002TableStyleRules/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState=3D"false" LatentStyleCount=3D"156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--> <style> <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:Wingdings; panose-1:5 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0; mso-font-charset:2; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:0 268435456 0 0 -2147483648 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {color:purple; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} span.EmailStyle17 {mso-style-type:personal-compose; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-ansi-font-size:10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt; font-family:Arial; mso-ascii-font-family:Arial; mso-hansi-font-family:Arial; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial; color:windowtext;} span.SpellE {mso-style-name:""; mso-spl-e:yes;} span.GramE {mso-style-name:""; mso-gram-e:yes;} @page Section1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:72.0pt 90.0pt 72.0pt 90.0pt; mso-header-margin:35.4pt; mso-footer-margin:35.4pt; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} /* List Definitions */ @list l0 {mso-list-id:-2; mso-list-type:simple; mso-list-template-ids:1876968232;} @list l0:level1 {mso-level-start-at:0; mso-level-number-format:bullet; mso-level-text:*; mso-level-tab-stop:none; mso-level-number-position:left; margin-left:0cm; text-indent:0cm;} @list l1 {mso-list-id:1425415224; mso-list-type:hybrid; mso-list-template-ids:450906216 67698703 67698713 67698715 67698703 = 67698713 67698715 67698703 67698713 67698715;} @list l1:level1 {mso-level-tab-stop:36.0pt; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-18.0pt;} @list l0:level1 lfo2 {mso-level-numbering:continue; mso-level-text:\F0B7; mso-level-tab-stop:none; mso-level-number-position:left; mso-level-legacy:yes; mso-level-legacy-indent:0cm; mso-level-legacy-space:0cm; margin-left:0cm; text-indent:0cm; font-family:Symbol;} ol {margin-bottom:0cm;} ul {margin-bottom:0cm;} --> </style> <!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */=20 table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--> </head> <body lang=3DEN-US link=3Dblue vlink=3Dpurple = style=3D'tab-interval:36.0pt'> <div class=3DSection1> <p class=3DMsoNormal><font size=3D3 face=3DArial><span lang=3DDA = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Arial;mso-ansi-language:DA'>Hello = all,<o:p></o:p></span></font></p> <p class=3DMsoNormal><font size=3D3 face=3DArial><span lang=3DDA = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Arial;mso-ansi-language:DA'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></= p> <p class=3DMsoNormal><font size=3D3 face=3DArial><span = style=3D'font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Arial'>So finally our mailing lists work again.
