Looks very promising. But there's one thing missing here (and in the
Xeta Requirements): IMHO the user should be able to define alternative
runtime (configure --prefix=3D... --exec-prefix=3D...) and installation
(make prefix=3D... install) paths. This would enable users to setup
diskless clients with NFS Root or even AFS filesytems. Especially in the
latter case, when the installation is on a replicated volume, the rw
replica of that volume is accessible through a different path than the
ro replicas:
ro: /afs/mycompany.com/software
rw: /afs/.mycompany.com/.software

There should be three places where the paths can be set:
1) In the xbuild, as it is now with Gentoo
2) In /etc/make.conf
3) On the command line at installtion time (this should then also be
recorded somewhere, so that (world-) updates install packages in the
right, user defined places).
