I like the voting system and level attributes. I do see the need for a slight modification though, and it lies in the procedures used for acknowledging a package. These procedures are not set in stone yet, but let's say that they were something like "A package must be acknowledged by package maintainer and a trusted user before making it into an official zynot distribution". If it turns out to be a rigid demand in this fashion it would not matter how many "community points" or stats bonuses a package got. The system should still effectively block a package from getting into the distribution before the procedure demands were satisfied. A thought I got when reading this is that ideally we should integrate this voting system with our yet-to-come automatic regression test suites. This means a package that passes all tests and a distro that passes all regression tests after the package has been inserted would add points to the package. Essentially this means to add regression testing as a player on the same level as a core developer. Just some thoughts.... -Frantz
