Can you estimate the effort changing this would entail for you? "Lots of 
fiddly bits all over my systems", "Something I do when hacking on stuff, 
but not as standard initfile feature." -- or something in between?

ASDF is sufficiently widely deployed that I'm not going to change implicit
things like this unless there is clear consensus.
