Seesion's variables and cookies in CL_HTTP

Hello!!

       I'm doing an application (Criminal law Course) in CL-HTTP under 
LispWork of Harlequin, but i've a problem. In a user's session, i need a 
variables (for example, a list of the pages are known by the user,the page 
that the user saw the last time,...). And i don't know if the session's 
variables exist and how to use them, or if i 've to use cookies. Can you 
please explain me the difference?. Which one have i to use to for my 
application and how?. Sorry if i don't write very well in English.
