Delivering Lisp applications [was: Re: [email protected]]

Let's try, hoping not to drift off-topic.

I would like to start a discussion about all issues related to Lisp
application delivery. Topics of interest include, but are not limited
to:

- deployment to user machines (from install scripts to things like
  vn-cCLan/asdf-install, but for "executable" applications and not
  source code)
- "executable" generation/packaging (e.g. how to best package
  together, say, a Lisp world plus all the auxiliary binaries/scripts)
- robustness (designing Lisp applications so that they don't blow into
  Joe User's face, for appropriate values of not blowing into the
  user's face: should we never allow the application to enter the
  debugger? what if it does enter the debugger? can/should we trap all
  user interrupts and similar actions?)
- GUIs (when is a GUI based on CLIM acceptable/adequate (I'm
  specifically interested in CLIM)? when it's not? what about UIs
  based on web browsers?)

Although I'm personally interested in end user applications under
Unix, I think good ideas can come from discussions of other kinds of
software--e.g. servers--for different operating systems.
